Growing up playing the drums in church Stephen got his start in the music industry at the age of seventeen working with kiwi reggae/pop band 'Spacifix.' With this band Stephen played throughout NZ, Australia, Los Angeles and Tonga and his drumming was featured on the bands Tui award winning 2006 debut album, 'Much Love.' He was featured in music videos and television appearances with Spacifix including nine part TV2 documentary series 'From Henderson to Hollywood.'

Since then Stephen has become a first call session drummer and has worked with some of NZ's top acts such as Avalanche City, Ginny Blackmore, Julia Deans, Seth Haapu and Anika Moa.

Stephen is also in demand in the jazz scene with a first class honours degree in jazz drumming from the University of Auckland and has worked with some of the country's finest jazz musicians such as Nathan Haines, Jonathan Crayford, Chris Mason Battley Group, Kevin Field and Matt Penman.
