Application Process


How do I apply for Excel?

Step 1: Apply by filling in the online application form.

Step 2: Music applicants can send us a short video of your singing or playing an instrument along with why you are wanting to study at EXCEL. For more instructions see (video-audition). You can message us on facebook(https://www.facebook.com/excelperformingarts94)or instagram (@excelperformingarts_) or email it to info@excel.ac.nz. For Dance and Drama applicants we will send you an audition date, time and venue for the workshop audition and then send a confirmation email with information about what you need to prepare.


What are the entry requirements?

Level 4 Certificate / Year One - The minimum entry requirement for our Level 4 Certificate is NCEA Level 1 or equivalent.

Level 5 Diploma / Year Two - Entry into our Level 5 Diploma is with the EXCEL Level 4 Certificate or NCEA Level 2 or equivalent. If you apply for the Diploma before having completed the school year we will provisionally accept you pending your successful completion of Level 2 NCEA.

Minimum age is 16 at the start of the course.

If English is a second language applicants must be able to provide evidence of meeting English Language proficiency requirements (listed under Rule 18 of NZQA Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2013).

Direct entry into Level 5 Diploma / Year Two is possible based on audition evidence, although Music students will need to show adequate music theory knowledge. We have no beginner classes and will be looking for evidence of previous experience or training, or people with the necessary skills and talent to cope with the demands of the course. 


How do I audition if I don’t currently live in Auckland?
