Tour 2010
Losa Ikenasio
I’m currently in my second year of study at EXCEL School of Performing Arts. I completed the first year and danced every day. I got so fit and learnt new styles like American Jazz and Contemporary as well as my favourite Hip Hop.
In my first year I was part of the team from EXCEL which won the Disney TV “Camp Rock the Tasman”. Then I put my name forward to try out for the 2nd year which is limited to about 20 students who then tour New Zealand for about 5 months.
We are now halfway through the tour and I never thought that touring could be so exhausting. Day after day we are performing on all sorts of stages around New Zealand. The performance experience is unbelievable and not only do I dance but I get to play bass in a number of the songs as well as mixing on the sound desk.
Meeting new people and performing in schools and youth concerts has helped me hugely with my confidence. At the start of the year I wasn’t confident at all with performing or even speaking in front of a crowd. Now I can do it without feeling like I’m going to collapse or make a fool out of myself.
Right now I’m so excited because we’re off to the South Island for the second half of the tour. Who knows what it will bring.
