JOHN KNIGHT (Principal)
Christian Foundations, Relationship Studies, Life Studies, Bible
From the age of 8 John has been trained in classical piano and has continued his passion for music throughout his life. He trained as a secondary teacher after completing a Masters in Science at the University of Auckland and spent 13 years teaching before he left to become Assistant Pastor at Valley Road International Church. During his time there John had the opportunity to combine his talents in music, as worship leader with Bible teaching and administration. While he was at Valley Road, EXCEL asked John to tutor at the school and were so impressed by his teaching ability, administration skills, musical background and heart for the students, that they offered him the role of Couse Director, which required overseeing the development and maintenance of the first year programme and all the students. As part of this role, John also tutored all the Christian subjects and Music theory.
In 2008 he was appointed Principal and has continued his passion for the personal growth of each student. With his knowledge of the school, administrative abilities, exceptional teaching style, strong leadership and mature Christian faith, John is well equipped for this challenging role as he leads the team at Excel.
